High Temperature Food Grade Silicone O-Ring for Automotive Engines/Food and Beverage
Material Overview
Silicon O-rings are primarily made from silicone rubber, a synthetic polymer composed of silicon, oxygen, carbon, and hydrogen. It is categorized into two main types:
VMQ (Virgin MQ Silicone): The most common type, offering excellent general-purpose performance.
FVMQ (Fluorinated Silicone): Enhanced with fluorine for improved chemical resistance, especially against fuels and oils.
Silicone rubber is non-toxic, odorless, and has good biocompatibility, making it suitable for food, medical, and pharmaceutical applications.

Key Performance Characteristics
Temperature Resistance:
Can withstand a wide range: from -60°C (-76°F) to 230°C (446°F) (VMQ) or up to 250°C (482°F) (FVMQ).
Maintains flexibility and sealing integrity in extreme hot or cold environments.
Chemical Resistance:
Resistant to water, steam, ozone, UV light, and mild acids/bases.
Not recommended for use with oils, solvents, or fuels (FVMQ offers better resistance here).
Electrical Insulation: Excellent dielectric properties, making it ideal for electrical and electronic applications.
Compression Set: Low compression set (permanent deformation after compression), ensuring long-term sealing performance.
Typical Applications
Medical & Pharmaceutical: Syringes, catheters, respiratory equipment, and drug delivery systems.
Food & Beverage: Seals in coffee machines, ovens, refrigerators, and food processing equipment.
Automotive: Gaskets for engine components, cooling systems, and lighting (especially high-temperature areas).
Electronics: Seals for connectors, sensors, and outdoor enclosures (protection against dust and moisture).
Aerospace: Sealing systems for aircraft engines and hydraulic systems (resistant to extreme temperatures).
